ChemDAQ’s PAA Monitoring Solutions Among Topics Discussed At The 2024 National Safety Conference For The Poultry Industry

August 28, 2024

Pittsburgh, PA – The 2024 National Safety Conference for the Poultry Industry was held in Destin, FL, from August 19th through the 21st. This conference brought together various industry leaders, safety professionals, and experts to discuss the poultry industry's latest advancements and safety accomplishments.

One focus area of the conference was the use of Peracetic Acid (PAA) as a ubiquitous antimicrobial chemical across the industry, helping reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses. While an effective and necessary part of the process, exposure to PAA can also lead to a range of health impacts for workers who are exposed to the chemical during their shift.

ChemDAQ’s fixed and portable PAA monitoring solutions are used daily across hundreds of poultry processing facilities in the United States. In fact, in one session, “Industrial Hygiene Best Practices: Dust Control, PAA, and Other Monitoring”, the presenter, a leading Industrial Hygienist from the industry, commented that the use of ChemDAQ technology is “the new norm” to help ensure safe and compliant levels of PAA.

“Our customers continue to take an active role in routine monitoring to ensure the health and safety of their workforce,” said Peter Ellefson, ChemDAQ Lead for the Poultry Industry. “ChemDAQ is committed to partnering with the industry to continue to supply PAA sensor technology that will keep operations moving safely and efficiently in the plant.”

ChemDAQ customers were well represented at the conference, including leaders from Tyson, Pilgrim’s, Wayne-Sanderson Farms, Perdue, Cooper Farms, and more.
